DIS-PLACE-MEN-TIA

I've had a bit of a crush on these boards for a while now.
I think it goes back to my surfing roots.
The boards that were in vogue in 68/69 in Australia
were less refined versions!
But it didn't stop us from riding them.
Hence, a growing collection of them.
And a couple of my interpretations of them.

BARRY,LARRY & FLOYD,RON and GREG.

Every once in a while to opportunity arises
to view a collection of boards ready for some restoration work.
This week I was lucky enough to.
All four boards are all owned by the same person.

Barry Bennett circa 63.
Running man logo on tail.
Purchased new by the present owners father.

G&S
Shaped by John Monie.
Glassed by Dave Wilson.
Custom order by present owner.

Ron.
Pulled in gun style tail.
The no 30 on deck @ nose.
The no 830 on deck @ tail ?

What a shame.
This McDonagh is completely
delaminated top and bottom.
The 2" balsa stringer has turned to mush.
It's still going to look good on the owners wall.

CULTURE NORM CULTURE

We headed off down to the big smoke post christmas
to partake in a little culture.

First up.
Picasso.
Well worth it.
A once in a life time chance
to see the work of a true master.
Got to love the goat.
Then over to the surf city exhibition.
At the Museum of Sydney.
Also well worth it.

The evening view from our hotel room.

MORE SUMMER FUN

They measure in at about 20" and 3'4"
Not sure what you would call the one on the left.
A double hand plane maybe.
It has a full length concave bottom.
The piapo has a spooned out deck
and full bottom camber.

My partner Kay says the piapo is great.
The double hand plane is yet to hit the water.
