Equates to 44kg.

Ready for grinding.
Then a capping lam over the join.

ANOTHER DALE

Another Dale has come in for restoration.

Found at a garage sale for $20.

Printed on the blank.

Steve O'Donnell worked at Dale in the late 60's.

READY TO GLASS

This is a little double ender.

The blank was from an old 70's backyard single fin.

The tiger stripe was done by dipping a length of wool in acrylic paint

and then draped on the painted blank and pulled tight around the rails.

Back to reality.

Ready to rebond the glass.

The join will be hidden behind a pinline.

1ST POINT NOOSA

Got lucky again.

Plenty of waves.

Cyclone Hamish washed away all of the beach.

The 1st point take off has moved west about 40 to 50m.

The sucky outside take off was closing out.

The low tide sweep was horrendous this year.

Must be something to do with the changed conditions.

Man was yet to walk on the moon.

But I was taking my first tentative steps toward a surfing life.

Found this photo amongst some old family photos.

10' BALSA BUILD Pt1

You might call this, building a balsa board the hard way.

But all the balsa and cedar is recycled and cost nothing.

The balsa, all 240 plus 6"x 6"x 2" blocks of end grain

balsa had been thrown out by a

boatbuilding company that I use to work for.

The cedar was an old outdoor table.

The blocks were glued up 21 at a time in a jig.

Then 3 at a time were glued end to end to form four 10' 6" long logs.

TWO SHOES OVER

The result of a few filler and gloss coats.

And some time on my hands.

TAYLOR MADE

This board is a Taylor. Built in Wow Woy

on the NSW Central coast.

Mr Taylor was a shipwright.

His shed was on the water front

next to the fish markets.

Just glossed.

CHOOK, CHOOK, CHOOKIE.

The neighbours chooks love our back yard.

4 HOURS OF SANDING

Two partially sanded boards

And a whole lot of dust.

The little Mc grigor twinnie

finally gets some paint.

A week or so to cure

a lite sand, then some colour.

There is a slight taper toward the tail.

The rails are 6mm.
